We are delighted to announce that this year’s Carl Zeiss Award  winner is Tom Lowe, for his images of a putative juvenile Thayer’s Gull at Elsham, Lincolnshire, in April 2012. Tom will be presented with a pair of 8×42 Zeiss binoculars at the Birdfair at 3:30pm on Friday 16th August 2013 in the Events Marquee, as part of the British Birds Photograph of the Year award.  The presentation will include a rundown of the top five shortlisted images by Adam Rowlands, BBRC Chairman.  You can read full details of this year’s award in the August British Birds.  The award will be followed by BBRC member Martin Garner’s ‘Pushing the Boundaries Reloaded’ lecture, presented in conjunction with RSPB.  We are extremely grateful to Carl Zeiss Ltd and RSPB for their continued  support of BBRC’s work.  You can visit the RSPB stand in Marquee 4 at the Birdfair, where they will be giving out 10,000 free copies of the British List, with all BBRC species highlighted for easy reference.  You can also catch up with Zeiss in the Simon King Wildlife Marquee and British Birds in Marquee 3.
